Apex Legends Is Finally Getting a Native PS5 Version

Apex Legends

Apex Legends will get a native PS5 version as a listing has been found on the PlayStation Store suggesting that an announcement is due soon.

The listing is for the PS5 version of the game which points towards a native release. While Apex Legends is currently playable on the PS5, it is done through backward compatibility which means the game doesn’t utilize all of the hardware features of the PS5 including DualSense support.

Apex Legends currently runs at a resolution of 1440p at 60 FPS on the PS5 through backward compatibility. A native PS5 version would offer 120 FPS as per the developers, and there will be the choice to bump the resolution to 4K, offer improved assets, visuals, and perhaps better support for DualSense.

The PS5 version has been listed on the PlayStation Database and has a file size of roughly 80 GB without any patches, so this is a substantial size overall. It does make sense considering all of the updates that the game has received over the years that have added tons of new content including Legends, Maps, and more.

The game will naturally also get an update for the Xbox Series X if the rumored PS5 version does get announced. Expect to see the same updates for the Xbox version minus any potential support for the DualSense controller.
