The Witcher Season 2 Gets a December Release Date

Netflix has confirmed the release date for The Witcher season 2. It is not coming out in the Summer but you only have to wait until December for it.

The Witcher is based on the popular polish book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. It is not to be confused with the video game that was developed by CD Projekt Red since that takes its own creative liberty to differentiate from the show and books.

The Witcher Netflix show stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Eamon Farren, and Anya Chalotra. The first season was a massive success for Netflix and the show’s creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. According to Netflix, the second season will be released on the streaming service on December 17, 2021.

Here is a short synopsis of the second season.

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The second season, like the first, may start nicely following the fight at Sodden Hill and Ciri’s encounter with Geralt. Ciri is already in Kaer Morhen in the first long-form Witcher novel, Blood of Elves, and recalls much of the events from the first season of the Netflix show. Her training may constitute the narrative loop of her flashbacks if the show follows the established structure, while she and Geralt depart Kaer Morhen for Temple School in Ellander in the current day timeline.
