Zombieland 2 is a sequel to a movie that was released in 2009 so this makes it almost 10 years between the first movie and its sequel. As a result of this, the cast now looks a lot mature and the writers have decided to take advantage of it and incorporate it into the story.
Zombieland 2: Double Tap story synopsis gives us an idea of the direction taken by the sequel. They are living in this world for years so naturally, they have grown used to it by now.
The sequel will follow the charismatic group of zombie slayers following the events of the first film as they settle into their post-apocalyptic lives. They’ve chosen a more luxurious lifestyle and decided to set up camp in the White House. After a disagreement between Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) and Wichita (Emma Stone) causes the group to split, Little Rock (Abagail Breslin) runs off with Berkeley (Avan Jogia), a guy she just met. The group then sets off to rescue Little Rock, but, of course, they aren’t alone in the world. New types of zombies have overrun the world, they include Homers (dumb ones), Hawkings (smart ones) and Ninjas (deadly ones).
Along the way, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) meets his match in the form of a female zombie-hunting badass named Nevada (Rosario Dawson). This makeshift family will have to use all their skills and follow Columbus’ survival rules if they want to make it out alive.
Zombieland 2: Double Tap cast was also revealed with the poster matching the original cast in the same pose.
The film will be directed by Ruben Fleisher who recently worked on Venom for Sony Pictures. Writers of the first movie, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, are joining hands together for this sequel where they are hoping to explore fresh new ideas and take the movie in a completely new direction.
