Diablo II Resurrected Runs at a Dynamic 1440p/60 On PS5/XSX, Dynamic 1080p/60 On Series S

Diablo II Resurrected comes with a 60 FPS performance mode on the PS5 and Xbox Series X that sees the game drop to a dynamic 1440p resolution.

As the game is now out for a few days, a comparison video has been released showing the PS5 and Xbox Series versions. The game supports 60 FPS on both the new generation consoles but this comes at the cost of a dynamic 4K resolution that can drop down below 1080p.

While you can enjoy Diablo II Resurrected at the 4K resolution, you have to limit the performance to 30 FPS. The only way to play the game in 60 FPS is through the Performance mode.

According to the analysis by VGTech, this mode can drop down to as low as 960p on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The higher limit of this mode is 1440p. For the quality mode, the resolution remains dynamic but the lower limit is 1440p while the upper limit is 4K.

PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode use a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 2560×1440 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 1706×960. Native resolution pixel counts at 2560×1440 seem to be common on PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode. PS5 and Xbox Series X in Performance Mode appear to use a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 2560×1440 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution.

PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode use a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840×2160 and the lowest resolution found being 2560×1440. Native resolution pixel counts at 3840×2160 seem to be common on PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode. PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode appear to use a form of temporal upsampling that can reconstruct a 3840×2160 resolution when rendering natively below this resolution.

It appears that Xbox Series S is a culprit of the 60 FPS target here with a resolution that can drop down as low as 720p and as high as 1080p.
