What is the best way to play Cyberpunk 2077?

“Swap meat for chrome, live a BD fantasy, whatever, but at the end of it all, it’s the code you live by that defines who you are.”

Cyberpunk 2077 may look rather intimidating at first sight. It is, however, a game that will keep you engaged for hours on end. What’s more, you can use VPN to hide your IP if the game isn’t available in your region so you can settle on a good VPN. That being said, if you dare to dive into mercenary V’s story and Night City, you will get tons of understanding. So, what is the best way to play Cyberpunk 2077 to ensure that you conquer the city as a new mercenary? Read on.

How to best play Cyberpunk 2077

  1. Skill points vs. attribute points

Even though it is fun to learn new skills, attribute points are crucial as they dictate the base stats and the perks available to gamers in that attribute—for example, skill trees. When you upgrade your body, your health is improved. ‘Cool’ will improve stealth, and ‘reflexes’ will improve your damage output with firearms.

On top of these, some will open up different dialogs options while others give you the strength to pry open doors. Attached to each stat are two to three skill trees which consist of both active skills and passive perks.

It’s good practice to focus on the attributes that have skills and perks that you’re interested in. For example, if you want to be an efficient net-runner, invest your attribute points into intelligence. That being said, it is also advisable to save your attributes for when you come across a door that might require an extra body point.

  1. Keep checking the messages.

V’s phone is constantly ringing, and it is in your best interest to check it regularly. It will be a ‘fixer’ sending you details on a job most of the time. It could also be a 6-set of wheels that you can buy.

However, sometimes the friends you have made in Night city will send you a message, and you definitely should reply. Don’t leave the messages unread. The reason is there are times when these messages open up new quests. Sometimes, the messages are just funny and endearing.

  1. Do side jobs more so for any characters you get along with

Cyberpunk 2077 has an overwhelming amount of side-quests. Trying to do all of them on a first play-through is ambitious. So, to take the pressure off, you should help out all key characters you meet along the way.

The missions you will help the key characters on sometimes are some of the best missions. They also net you some of the most valuable rewards in the game.

  1. Sell or break down rare guns you do not need

When playing Cyberpunk 2077, you will constantly cycle through new weapons. So, instead of just tossing your outdated firearm in the ground, there are other ways. Consider selling it or breaking it down for components. Early in the game, guns are probably the most valuable things you will commonly find.

The downside is they weigh a lot, and you do have a weight limit on what you can carry. So, the better option is to sell old weapons every chance you get.

The components you get from breaking down your old guns are also useful. Those components can be used to upgrade the weapons you like. You can also use those components to craft rare weapons.

  1. Don’t trash iconic weapons.

Do not break down or sell iconic weapons even if you’re way over-leveled for them. Iconic weapons usually have a perk that makes them unique. So, if you have one, consider upgrading it to keep it viable.

Upgrading iconic weapons is easy. You will automatically get the blueprints to upgrade them when you find iconic weapons. The number of times players can upgrade an iconic weapon depends on the rarity tier you find it on.

Tip: using common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary components, you can upgrade the iconic weapons in the crafting menu. Upgrading will ensure that you get to keep them around for longer.

  1. Tip for Net-runners

As a net runner, you won’t do much with the cyber-deck that you start with. Cyber decks determine how much RAM you have. They also allow Cyberpunk 2077 Netrunners to equip quick hacks.  The more RAM you have, the more quick hacks you can do in succession. Moreover, the nicer the cyberdeck you have, the more quick hacks you have.

Conclusion

Cyberpunk 2077’s release date was 10th December 2020. The game is available on Google Stadia, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
