Riot Games has confirmed that 2XKO, its upcoming free-to-play fighting game, will officially enter Early Access on October 7 for PC players. The announcement was made by executive producer Tom Cannon in a recent developer update, marking the transition from the ongoing Closed Beta.
Cannon explained that the Closed Beta has helped Riot fine-tune global server infrastructure, matchmaking, and stability issues. With those systems holding steady, the studio is now ready to roll out the first full-featured version of the game. Early Access will introduce new features including Combo Trials, in-season progression systems, and a content structure designed to carry forward into the full release. Importantly, Cannon emphasized that there will be no more content resets, meaning all items and progress earned from October 7 onward will remain intact.
The content rollout for 2XKO will follow a seasonal model. Each year will feature five seasons, with every season introducing a brand-new champion alongside additional in-game content. The first of these will arrive on October 7, bringing the game’s roster up to ten fighters. Players can expect seasonal cosmetics, battle pass rewards, and continued balance adjustments as the game evolves.
Community engagement has already been a strong focus for Riot. Shaun Rivera, a member of the development team, praised the number of player-run tournaments during the Closed Beta and highlighted the new “First Impact Program.” This initiative will see Riot sponsoring 22 community events throughout 2025, providing pot bonuses and duo-specific rewards to further encourage competitive play.
2XKO blends fighting mechanics with characters from League of Legends and is planned for a full release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. For now, PC players will be the first to experience Early Access when it goes live on October 7.
