2XKO Ranking System Revealed with Tier List Ahead of Closed Beta

by Ali Haider

Riot Games has outlined the competitive structure for its upcoming 2v2 fighter 2XKO, unveiling the full ranking system and tier progression ahead of the game’s Closed Beta. Players will climb through a familiar hierarchy of skill tiers, starting from Aspirant and advancing through Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, and Grandmaster. At the very top, the best competitors will reach Challenger status, with the Top 500 players earning promotion into this prestigious rank.

This competitive ladder aims to provide a clear path of progression while ensuring that the highest ranks remain a reflection of consistency and skill. Riot’s approach mirrors the ranking formats popularized in its other titles, but with adjustments designed for the unique pace of a fighting game.

Alongside this announcement, Riot also confirmed the final roster for the Closed Beta, which begins September 9, 2025. The lineup will feature nine League of Legends champions: Darius, Ahri, Ekko, Yasuo, Illaoi, Braum, Jinx, Vi, and Blitzcrank. Vi is making her first appearance in 2XKO, bringing her signature gauntlets into the fray with a brawler-centric style.

The beta is invite-only, though sign-ups remain open on Riot’s website. Players who took part in earlier Alpha Lab sessions will automatically receive access. Beta participants will test several key systems, including duo drafting in 2v2 matchups, Fuse customization for strategy variation, and best-of-three battles. Riot also confirmed that while the beta is PC-exclusive, cross-platform progression will be fully supported when the game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

“Our goal is to keep the game online once Closed Beta begins, outside of any necessary maintenance,” Riot stated, acknowledging that the test marks the first large-scale deployment of backend systems. Some instability is expected, but the studio views this as a vital step toward refining the experience ahead of launch.

Originally introduced as Project L, 2XKO is Riot Games’ first venture into the fighting game space. Set for release in 2025, the title blends the familiar champions of League of Legends with fast-paced, team-based fighting mechanics designed to appeal to both casual players and competitive veterans.
