Kaitlyn Dever, the actress who plays Abby in season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us TV series has received extra security during filming due to disgruntled gamers.
During the latest episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, host Josh Horowitz conducted an interview with Isabela Merced, who plays Dina in season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us TV series. Horowitz told Merced that he was worried about Kaitlyn Dever, as she takes on the character of Abby. Fans will remember plenty of controversy that stemmed from leaks associated with Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, which led to disgruntled gamers hating the character over some of her actions in the game. With Dever playing the role of Abby in the next season of the TV series, concerns regarding the actress’ safety were bound to be raised.
In her response, Merced mentioned that there are so many strange people in this world because there are people that actually genuinely hate Abby. She reminded everyone that the character is not a real person, but that hasn’t stopped angry gamers from hating on her regardless. As such, Merced shared that Dever had to be given extra security when it came to the filming of season 2 of The Last of Us. She said that Dever is “such a cool person” who just does not get phased by such things and really has her head in the right place.
