Amazon Prime Video has officially revealed the expanded cast for its upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, confirming a mix of familiar characters from the video game franchise and several new additions to the universe. The announcement was shared by Amazon MGM Studios on Reddit, confirming that the newly revealed actors will star alongside Sophie Turner, who was previously announced as Lara Croft.
Several characters drawn directly from Tomb Raider canon have now been cast. Martin Bobb-Semple will portray Zip, described as Lara Croft’s long-standing tech support and trusted friend. Jason Isaacs has been cast as Atlas DeMornay, identified as Lara’s uncle. Bill Paterson will appear as Winston, the Croft family’s long-serving butler, a role closely associated with the franchise’s legacy.
The series also introduces a slate of original characters created specifically for the show. Jack Bannon will play Gerry, Lara’s personal pilot, noted for his role as both transportation and unofficial snack collector. John Heffernan appears as David, an exhausted government official who becomes entangled in Lara’s increasingly unusual world. Celia Imrie has been cast as Francine, the Head of Advancement at the British Museum, whose priorities revolve around fundraising and high society obligations.
Additional new roles include Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, a senior government official tasked with managing a large-scale crisis, and Sasha Luss as Sasha, a fierce and deeply competitive new adversary to Lara. Juliette Motamed will portray Georgia, a curator at the British Museum who is committed to traditional preservation practices. Sigourney Weaver joins the cast as Evelyn Wallis, described as a mysterious and influential figure interested in exploiting Lara’s abilities. August Wittgenstein rounds out the announcement as Lukas, an illegal raider who shares a complicated history with Lara.
Alongside the casting news, both Sophie Turner and series creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge shared statements addressing the project. Turner said, “I’ve been a long-time fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!” Waller-Bridge added, “Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”
The Tomb Raider series serves as the live-action cornerstone of Amazon’s unified storytelling universe for the franchise. The show has entered an active production phase, with principal photography scheduled to begin on January 19, 2026. The series is planned to debut exclusively on Prime Video in early 2027, with availability across more than 240 countries. More details are expected to be shared as production moves forward.
