Nintendo Switch Emulator Yuzu is getting close to the playable stage and can now emulate games running at 60 FPS and above. See it all in action if you don’t believe it.
Super Mario Odyssey is easily one the best exclusives available for the Nintendo Switch, and while Yuzu was able to run the game before, it was at a slow speed and reduced frame rate, which made the experience terrible. Thankfully, it is possible to play the game at an acceptable frame rate now and while the experience is not perfect, it can still count as an improvement.
Curious to see what kind of PC specs are required to run the game at this level of frame rate. The uploader has shared them as listed below.
- i7 8700k @5.0Ghz
- 16gb DDR4 3200Mhz RAM
- GTX 1080ti 11gb
- 256gb NVME M.2 SSD
These are beefy requirements so it is not like you can just pop the game on your PC with the emulator (if you have a legal backup copy) and then emulate it easily. The emulator is far from perfect and it will take time for the optimizations made at the high level to trickle down and improve the performance on a modest budgeted PC.
Yuzu started its development relatively soon and the progress being made on it is impressive considering the short time that is spent on its development. Nintendo Switch is still selling really well and with each improvement to the emulator, it might be possible to play newer games on it.
