Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.30 Brings Resort Hotel, Slumber Island, and New Crossover Items

Nintendo has announced Update 1.30 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a major free content update launching January 15, 2026, alongside the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game. This expansive update introduces a luxurious seaside resort hotel operated by Kapp’n’s family, a fully customizable dream environment known as Slumber Island, and a host of new collaborative furniture and fashion items inspired by The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, and LEGO.

Players can look forward to expanded creative and social features, such as decorating guest rooms for visiting travelers, crafting DIY promotional items to boost island recognition, and enjoying deeper home storage upgrades. The update also brings fresh customization options, enhanced multiplayer interactions, and new ways to personalize island life.

New Facility – Resort Hotel

  • A new resort hotel has opened on the pier, managed by Kapp’n’s family.
  • Players can design and decorate guest rooms with themed layouts like seaside or luxury suites, using either in-game or personal furniture.
  • After completing room designs, players earn hotel tickets, redeemable for exclusive souvenirs in a shop operated by Graham.
  • Guests can try on new outfits displayed on mannequins, and players can suggest or wear the same styles.
  • amiibo support allows inviting special guests to stay at the hotel.

Island Brand Promotion

  • Tom Nook now offers new DIY crafting initiatives to promote your island’s brand.
  • Delivering these items earns additional hotel tickets.
  • Kapp’n personally handles item deliveries across nearby islands.

Expanded Home Storage

  • Maximum home storage capacity increased from 5,000 to 9,000 items.
  • Players can now store trees, shrubs, and flowers directly within home storage.

New Cleanup Service

  • A new character, Reetti, introduces an island cleanup service.
  • Reetti can remove unwanted items, flowers, or patterns from designated areas and store them safely for later use.

Slumber Island

  • Luna returns with the new Slumber Island feature, where players can freely decorate dreamscapes.
  • Players can reshape rivers, cliffs, and terrain, and change the time of day or weather.
  • Up to three Slumber Islands can be created, each in different sizes (small, medium, or large).
  • Friends can join to help decorate and build dream environments collaboratively.

Collaboration Items and Themes

  • The souvenir shop will carry Nintendo-themed items, including retro consoles and toys.
  • Nintendo Switch Online members can play select classic games using these in-game systems.
  • LEGO-themed furniture and fashion — sofas, tables, wallpapers, and T-shirts — can be purchased via Nook Shopping, available in multiple colors.
  • Zelda-themed content adds new outfits and furniture, plus amiibo compatibility for The Legend of Zelda characters such as Tulin and Minou, who may visit or move to your island.
  • Splatoon-themed crossover brings characters Cece and VJ, along with fashion and décor matching their vibrant streetwear aesthetic.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains one of Nintendo’s most beloved life-simulation experiences, offering players a charming, open-ended journey of creativity, friendship, and self-expression.
