Argos UK Leak Suggests ROG Xbox Ally Base Model Will Retail for £499

The ROG Xbox Ally may have had its UK pricing revealed early thanks to a leak from retailer Argos. Images shared by Reddit user FriendlyPharma showed promotional material listing the handheld console at £499.99 for the standard model. While there was no confirmation regarding the higher-end Xbox Ally X, speculation in the thread suggested a possible £799 price point.

According to the Argos leaflet, the ROG Xbox Ally will feature an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. Other details listed include a 60Wh battery, Windows 11 support, and Xbox Game Pass integration. The promotional material also encouraged customers to “pre-order now,” with prices reportedly going live on the Argos website from September 24.

Community responses to the leak have been mixed. Some noted that £499 was lower than expected given earlier rumors that placed the base model between £550 and £599, while others raised concerns over Argos’ accuracy. FriendlyPharma themselves admitted that the retailer has a history of posting incorrect details, though they were confident in the material’s authenticity.

The leak adds weight to earlier reporting from content creator Destin, who stated that U.S. pricing had been finalized at 549.99 dollars for the ROG Xbox Ally and 899.99 dollars for the more powerful Ally X. Both models are set to release worldwide on October 16, with U.S. display units already planned for Best Buy stores.

Until Microsoft or ASUS make an official announcement, the Argos information should be treated with caution. Still, if accurate, a £499 entry price for the ROG Xbox Ally could make it an appealing option in the increasingly competitive handheld gaming space.
