Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag voice actor Matt Ryan has hinted at the possibility of the game receiving a remake.
During a convention in Rosemont, Illinois, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag voice actor Matt Ryan, who played the role of protagonist Edward Kenway, teased the possibility of the game receiving a remake. While signing his autograph on the packaging of the character’s Funko Pop for a fan, Ryan asked the latter if they have beaten the game.

The fan responded by saying that they have indeed played through Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, though it was a long while ago. In response, Matt said that they may have to beat it again. The fan agreed, saying that they need to run through all entries in the series again. However, Ryan clarified that he was especially referring to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. He added that there’s a reason he said that, but he was unable to say anything.
Going by Ryan’s statement, he appears to have been teasing the announcement of a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. It’s possible that he may have recorded new voice lines or re-recorded some of the original ones for the re-release, which is why he is in the know. Ubisoft has yet to confirm its existence, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the company releasing a remake of one of the most popular entries in the Assassin’s Creed series. At this point, it’s tough to say what kind of visual enhancements or gameplay overhauls one can expect from the re-release. We’re certainly hoping for the remake to include graphical features seen in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, such as ray traced global illumination and ray traced reflections.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag was released on October 29, 2013, for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Wii U.
