Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Reportedly A ‘Bugged Mess,’ Leading to Delay; Splinter Cell Remake Was Internally Delayed

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is currently a “bugged mess”, which is what ultimately led to its delay to February, 2024.

During the latest video on the tvPH YouTube channel, host PH talked about the sensitive situation at Ubisoft after the surprising delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. A source within the company told them that the decision to delay the upcoming title was because it was a “bugged mess”.

It was further mentioned that the decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows was also influenced by the poor sales of Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft executives believed that the latter’s buggy state was one of the reasons why it didn’t sell well, and they didn’t want to see the same happening with the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. The company expects Assassin’s Creed Shadows to sell 10 million copies, much like previous mainline entries.

Outside of bug-related issues, the development team at Ubisoft is said to be feeling confident with Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ overall quality, based on internal play tests and previews. That said, the general sentiment at the company is that its future games will continue to flop. The Splinter Cell Remake has been internally delayed, and it is said to be in a pretty bad shape. As such, the game has no release window at this time. Ubisoft was originally planning to release a Splinter Cell Blacklist Remastered in 2024. Had things gone according to plan, the announcement would have taken place in July, 2024.

In related news, it was previously claimed by known insider NWeedle that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is being ported over to Nintendo Switch 2. According to them, the intention is to have the port ready for the console’s launch window. Additionally, the source mentioned that ports of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Origins will also arrive on Nintendo’s next console, with the latter two set to be offered in a bundle.
