Details regarding the review embargo for Sony Interactive Entertainment and Team Asobi’s upcoming 3D platformer, Astro Bot, have been revealed.

The review embargo for Astro Bot is expected to be lifted in less than a week, on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This is a day ahead of the game’s launch on September 6, 2024. Fans can, therefore, look forward to hearing what critics have to say about the PlayStation mascot’s latest adventure across 6 galaxies and 50 planets.

Additionally, the pre-load for Astro Bot is expected to go live on the PlayStation Store two days prior to launch, and a day before the review embargo will be lifted i.e. September 4, 2024. It will come with the latest update pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on September 6, 2024. Meanwhile, those who purchased a physical copy of the game will need to download the day one update.

Furthermore, the download size of Astro Bot is around 66 GB. Those with limited available space on the internal storage drive are advised to clear up some space in advance. It goes without saying that SSD storage expansion options are available for those who need them.

Recently, during an interview on the MinnMax YouTube channel, Nicolas Doucet, creative director at Team Asobi, was asked whether he had a message for PC players out there who are very eager to someday play Astro Bot. In his response, he said that he “absolutely” looks forward to hearing from the PC audience. Elsewhere during the interview, Doucet mentioned that the development team for Astro Bot comprised of a total of 65 people. He revealed that around 4 members of the development team had previously worked on Ape Escape. He also addressed the possibility of a PSVR2 mode, stating that the game was not designed for VR.
