Imaginary Studios’ sci-fi third-person shooter/role-playing game, Astropulse: Reincarnation, has been canceled, as the studio has shut down.

Julian Calle, former concept artist at Imaginary Studios, has shared some details regarding Astropulse: Reincarnation.  He mentioned that, for about 4 months, he had the opportunity to work on the third-person shooter/role-playing game with a team of artists involved in an exploratory design stage. However, he revealed that, due to unfortunate circumstances, Astropulse: Reincarnation was canceled and the studio was closed.

While it’s hard to say whether Astropulse: Reincarnation would have turned to be a runaway success, the above concept artwork certainly looks the part. Unfortunately, it looks like we won’t be hearing any further details about the canceled sci-fi title.

For the uninitiated, Astropulse: Reincarnation was envisioned as a transmedia experience spanning games, films, novels, and more. The narrative stretches across billions of years, beginning 250 million years ago when a mysterious force known as Astropulse arrives on Earth. This cosmic phenomenon triggers a catastrophic event that reshapes the course of humanity’s evolution. The enigmatic force is carried to Earth by meteorites, leaving behind traces that eventually unleash a global disaster. Over millennia, its influence transforms not only the planet but also an alien race born in the icy depths of Antarctica. These beings, fused with Astropulse’s remnants, create a deathless army, a new Tree of Life, and the Twelve Apostles, aiming to destroy humanity and restart civilization.

At the heart of the story is an artificially created life form caught in the escalating conflict between two opposing factions: the Frontiers and XIX. As the vorphs launch a devastating invasion, humanity faces extinction unless it can unite. In this grim scenario, the protagonist undergoes rapid growth, joining forces with legendary allies and heroes to challenge a seemingly unavoidable tragic destiny. The game’s protagonist, Hall, is a nomad consumed by vengeance. After losing his family to the V virus, Hall becomes a relentless force of anguish and retribution. His journey begins in 2036 when he rebuilds his vintage vehicle in his workshop and sets out to eliminate the infected while uncovering the truth about the disaster and his own identity.
