Avatar Fire and Ash has officially crossed the $1 billion milestone at the global box office, marking another major commercial achievement for director James Cameron. The third entry in the Avatar franchise reached a worldwide total of approximately $1.08 billion in just 19 days, combining strong international performance with steady domestic results.

Internationally, the film continues to demonstrate significant staying power. During its third weekend overseas, Avatar Fire and Ash grossed $129.6 million across 53 markets, representing a relatively modest decline of 29.3 percent from the previous frame. This performance pushed the film’s international cumulative total to $777.1 million. The overseas result places it ahead of several major post-COVID releases and highlights the continued global appeal of the franchise.

In the United States, the film added a solid $40 million during its third three-day weekend. The domestic drop of 36.6 percent was consistent with other large-scale franchise entries and brought the film’s North American total to $306 million. With this result, Avatar Fire and Ash has become just the seventh film released in 2025 to surpass the $300 million mark in the US market.

Combined, the domestic and international figures place the film at an estimated $1.08 billion worldwide. This total allows Avatar Fire and Ash to surpass the global box office runs of The Rise of Skywalker and Joker, positioning it as the 41st highest-grossing movie of all time. It has also overtaken Moana 2 to rank as the 10th highest-grossing post-COVID release globally.

The film’s rapid climb past the $1 billion threshold comes despite a reported production budget exceeding $400 million, excluding marketing costs. While its pace trails behind Avatar The Way of Water at the same point in release, the film has nevertheless secured a strong commercial footing early in its theatrical run.

Released on December 19, 2025, Avatar Fire and Ash is the third chapter in James Cameron’s long-running science fiction saga. The film shifts its focus to the volcanic regions of Pandora and introduces the Ash People, a new and more aggressive Na’vi clan. Set shortly after the events of The Way of Water, the story follows Jake Sully and Neytiri as they confront escalating conflict and internal divisions among Pandora’s inhabitants.
