AYN has announced that the AYN Thor may see a price increase in April due to rising memory costs, as the company begins shipping new batches of its Android gaming handhelds. The update comes as Thor Batch 3 is scheduled to start shipping in March at current prices ranging from 249 to 449 dollars, while AYN Odin 3 Batch 4 is also set to ship in March with pricing between 329 and 519 dollars.
In a message shared with customers, the company confirmed that Thor shipping has already started. “Today and tomorrow we are shipping the Base version. Other models will begin shipping next week,” AYN stated. The company added that progress updates would continue to be reflected on its dashboard to allow customers to track fulfillment status.
AYN also confirmed that new preorder batches will open on March 1. “Thor – Batch 4” and “Odin3 – Batch 5” will become available, with estimated shipping beginning in April. However, the company issued a pricing update notice tied to component costs. “We were informed today by our DRAM and storage supplier that memory prices are expected to continue rising,” the statement reads. It further explained that the broader storage price surge, driven largely by sustained AI related demand, is affecting the entire industry.
As a result, AYN indicated that a price adjustment for Thor may take effect in April. “The final increase will depend on how much the component costs rise,” the company said, advising prospective buyers to consider the situation if they are planning a purchase.
The AYN Thor is positioned as a premium Android-powered handheld featuring a dual-screen clamshell design. It includes a 6-inch 120Hz AMOLED primary display and a 3.92-inch secondary AMOLED screen, with higher-end configurations powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Weighing approximately 380 grams, the device targets both modern Android gaming and advanced emulation use cases. With shipments now underway and new batches opening soon, buyers face a narrowing window before any potential price adjustment takes effect.
