Back to the Dawn Infirmary Guide: How to Access and Get the Code

by Greg Martin

In Back to the Dawn, the infirmary is a critical location where inmates receive medical attention for various conditions. However, this seemingly ordinary facility plays a larger role in the prison escape routes and character interactions. This guide explains how players can gain access to the infirmary, how to obtain the treatment plan from Beth, and how to discover the elusive infirmary code.

Accessing the Infirmary

The infirmary is staffed by Beth, who tends to the medical needs of the inmates. There are several ways to enter the infirmary during your playthrough:

  1. Passing a Physical Exam:
You can gain initial access by passing a physical, which enables you to work. This is available only once.
  2. Losing a Fight to Another Inmate:
If you pick a fight and lose, you will be sent to the infirmary to recover.
  3. Using a Laxative and Requesting an Escort:
After taking a laxative, you may request a guard to escort you to the infirmary.
  4. Having the Weak Body Status:
If your character has the Weak Body status, you can ask a guard to take you there.
  5. Following Beth’s Treatment Plan:
Once you acquire a treatment plan from Beth, you may visit on scheduled days.

Obtaining the Treatment Plan

To secure a treatment plan, you need to build rapport with Beth. This requires repeated visits to the infirmary through any of the above methods. Presenting her with suitable gifts, such as a love letter or a bouquet, will increase her Rapport level. Upon reaching 60 Rapport, you will be able to confess your feelings successfully. Doing so rewards you with a treatment plan that lets you visit her on selected days each week.

How to Get the Infirmary Code

The keypad lock to the infirmary’s special room uses a four-digit code, which happens to be Beth’s birthday. However, this birthday is randomized with every new game run. Therefore, you must ask Beth about her birthday each time after raising your Rapport to 60.

Alternatively, if you possess the IT skill obtained from reading the appropriate book, you may attempt to hack the keypad directly instead of relying on Beth’s information.

One specific route requires befriending Beth, accessing her computer, learning the birthday code, and using it to exit through the infirmary.

Infirmary Escape Route Breakdown:

  • Visit the infirmary after 17:30.
  • Input the code to unlock the healing room.
  • Inspect the window and disassemble it, a task with a 200-point check within a time limit.
  • Successfully pass the jump by either having 8 Agility or by lockpicking a nearby door.
  • Climb the radio tower and glide down using a lanyard-type item, such as a Strength belt.

Note that players report mixed success with this route, and it may contain further challenges after these steps.

Alternative Entry via the Sewers

If you want to bypass the infirmary code altogether, there is another method involving the sewers.

  • Enter the sewers behind the toilet.
  • Craft a wooden bridge using planks from the big door to reach the right side.
  • Enter the abandoned operation room.
  • Move a medical bed under a rusted vent and inspect it to learn you need a corrosive solution.
  • Befriend Walter the Skunk to gain his crafting talent, which allows you to create the corrosive solution.
  • Apply the solution to the vent during a daytime visit.
  • After this, you can access the infirmary freely at night through the sewers.
