The Battlefield 6 open beta is now live across PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, offering players their first extended look at DICE’s next large-scale shooter. While the final release may feature performance improvements, the current build provides a clear view of how the game performs and looks on each console.
On PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, players can choose between Balanced and Performance modes. Balanced mode targets 60 frames per second with higher-quality visuals, including improved shadows, lighting, terrain detail, and resolution. Performance mode sacrifices some of these enhancements in an effort to reach 120fps, though in practice the framerate tends to average closer to 90fps. The Xbox Series S, meanwhile, runs without selectable modes, aiming for 60fps while cutting back on effects such as screen space reflections, draw distance, and certain lighting details.
The PS5 Pro stands out with a higher average resolution, increased debris and particle effects during destruction, and a longer draw distance. The standard PS5 also shows a slight edge over Xbox Series X in terrain and particle rendering. While all platforms maintain a solid 60fps in Balanced mode, Performance mode remains less consistent across the board. Despite this, the beta’s optimization is already impressive given the visual scale of the environments.
EA and DICE are running the beta over two weekends. Weekend 1 lasts until August 11 at 8:00 AM UTC, with Weekend 2 scheduled for August 14–18. No code is required to participate, and players can access the beta through the EA App, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, or Microsoft Store. Available maps include Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive, with modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, Closed Weapon Conquest, and King of the Hill.
Battlefield 6 is set to officially launch on October 10, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
