DICE has released a substantial Battlefield 6 update focused on rebalancing Challenges and Assignments to create a fairer, faster, and more rewarding progression system. The update, which went live today via a server-side rollout, reduces completion requirements across dozens of in-game objectives while maintaining skill-based gameplay and consistency-driven progression.
According to the official community update, the new system is designed around clear playtime targets, ensuring that challenge completion aligns with achievable session lengths. The studio emphasized that these adjustments were directly informed by player feedback and in-game performance data.
The update makes sweeping reductions to the time investment needed for various tasks, particularly those involving weapons, classes, and multiplayer modes. While mastery-level goals tied to rare cosmetics remain challenging, the team noted that the intent behind such assignments is now clearer, helping players better understand which challenges represent routine play and which reward exceptional performance.
Among the 90-plus adjustments introduced, several notable examples were highlighted:
Class Challenges
- Assault 2: Squadmate deployments on the Spawn Beacon reduced from 50 to 5.
- Support 2: Teammate revives reduced from 200 to 60.
Weapon Assignments
- Rapid Fire 1 (Assault Rifle): Total damage requirement lowered from 10,000 to 3,000.
- All weapon-type assignments—including SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, and Shotguns—have been simplified to emphasize steady play over grind-heavy repetition.
Mode & Unit Assignments
- Mode-specific objectives, including Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough, and Domination, now require only two wins per tier, a major reduction from previous totals.
- Conquest 2: Wins in Conquest reduced from 5 to 2.
- Conquest 3: Objective kills per round reduced from 30 to 10.
Gameplay & Mastery
General “Expert” and “Master” challenges—those requiring multi-kills, headshots, kill streaks, or revives—have been recalibrated to align with typical player performance rather than rare, high-skill events.
- Explosives Expert 2: Multi-kill requirement reduced from 20 to 5.
- Adaptable 2: Vehicle repair damage requirement reduced from 3,000 to 500.
DICE stated that these modifications represent only the first phase of a larger, multi-stage rollout. While the initial wave of updates is already active, further refinements will arrive in both server-side and client-side patches over the coming weeks. The team confirmed that any progress players have already made toward challenges will automatically carry over, meaning previously unmet conditions may trigger immediate unlocks when players next log in.
The changes build upon previous progression improvements introduced earlier this month, including higher XP rewards in official matches and reduced XP requirements for early attachment ranks. Together, these updates aim to streamline advancement and make reward acquisition more consistent with actual playtime.
