Battlefield 6 Story Details Revealed Through New Rating

by Salal Awan

Newly published classification details from the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore have given us the first comprehensive look at the story and content of Battlefield 6. The rating body has given the game a Mature 18 classification, citing strong violence and coarse language, and in doing so, has revealed key elements of the upcoming shooter’s storyline and gameplay features.

According to the IMDA’s report, Battlefield 6 will show a near-future global conflict set in 2027, pitting NATO forces against a powerful rogue private military company called Pax Armada. Players will step into the role of a United States Marine, working alongside a squad as they take on missions across a variety of international locations. The story campaign will blend cinematic sequences with gameplay, moving the narrative forward while putting players in both close-quarters combat and large-scale vehicle battles.

Combat is described as intense and realistic, with the use of firearms like pistols, rifles, and shotguns, as well as explosives, including grenades and rocket launchers. The rating notes that players will be able to take control of vehicles and mounted turrets, adding tactical variety to the battlefield. Blood splatter effects will show when hits connect, while fallen enemies may leave visible bloodstains. One particularly graphic scene involves a corpse’s thumb being cut off with a bolt cutter. Under Singapore’s M18 guidelines, realistic violence, including killing and harming humanoid characters, is allowed.

The IMDA also points out the frequent use of strong coarse language in both dialogue and soundtrack lyrics. Explicit terms like “motherf**ker” and “f*ck” appear, alongside other profanity including “basta*d,” “b*tch,” and “sh*t.” These elements contributed to the Mature 18 classification.

Beyond the single-player campaign, Battlefield 6 will feature multiple online multiplayer modes, continuing the franchise’s tradition of large-scale, squad-based battles. The game is being developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts, serving as the eighteenth main entry in the long-running series. It’s scheduled for release on October 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
