Despite a successful launch, EA’s Battlefield 6 is well behind Activision’s Call of Duty HQ in terms of player engagement on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Mat Piscatella, Senior Director and Video Game Industry Thought Leader at Circana (formerly NPD), took to Blue Sky to share the top 15 games ranked by total weekly active users for the week ending on Saturday, October 18, 2025, on PlayStation and Xbox in t he US, courtesy of the company’s Player Engagement Tracker. The period covers the launch week of EA and Battlefield Studios’ latest first-person shooter, Battlefield 6.
Based on the player engagement stats, Call of Duty HQ ranked #2 in terms of total weekly active users in the US during the week ending on October 18, 2025, on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, while Battlefield 6 charted at #7 on PlayStation and #6 on Xbox. As such, despite a successful launch, Battlefield 6 is currently well behind Call of Duty HQ in terms of popularity.
There is some nuance to the situation, however. The Call of Duty HQ app not only factors the total weekly active users for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 but also the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone. Therefore, the comparison isn’t particularly fair for now, though it will be after tomorrow’s launch of Battlefield’s own free-to-play mode, Battlefield Redsec. Player engagement stats for the week ending on November 8, 2025, will be interesting to compare. It’s also worth noting that Battlefield 6 is more popular on PC than it is on consoles.
The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14, 2025, will undoubtedly also have a major impact on active player stats. Developer Treyarch promises that the upcoming first-person shooter’s Season 1 will be the biggest post-launch content rollout the studio has ever delivered. In a recent Dev Talk, the developer outlined a major lineup of maps, weapons, modes, and Zombies content arriving throughout the first season. More details here.
