Battlefield RedSec: All Known Issues and Fixes at Launch

by Greg Martin

With the official launch of Battlefield RedSec on October 28, 2025, DICE has introduced the franchise’s first-ever free-to-play standalone experience built upon the Battlefield 6 framework. The title expands the iconic formula with a large-scale battle royale set in Fort Lyndon, a sprawling Southern California map filled with destruction, vehicles, and high-intensity tactical engagements. However, as with most major launches, a few issues have surfaced.

DICE has acknowledged several known bugs and technical inconsistencies across gameplay, vehicles, the user interface, and social systems. While many of these do not prevent players from enjoying matches, they can affect the overall experience in specific scenarios such as gadget deployment, redeploy sequences, or Gauntlet missions. The development team has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and targeted hotfixes are planned for the coming weeks to stabilize performance and improve quality of life.

Below is a detailed overview of the currently identified issues and their ongoing fixes across Battlefield RedSec.

LOOT & ITEMS

  • Deploying a gadget on any Supply Drop may cause the drop crate to break.
  • Throwing a Call-in Smoke Grenade onto a Supply Drop can trigger continuous smoke sound effects.
  • Resupply Drop crate may remain in the world after being accessed instead of despawning.
  • Upgrade Kits can be looted by another player even while being applied in-world.
  • Vehicle Supply Station charges may not visually appear consumed when replenishing vehicle ammunition.
  • Assault Ladder lacks a UI indicator to show when it cannot be placed on unsuitable terrain.
  • Smoke Cover gadget cannot be used during late-game phases of a match.

Fix Status:
DICE has noted that work is underway to address Supply Drop and Upgrade Kit inconsistencies in a future update. The Smoke Cover issue has also been prioritized for resolution, as it affects endgame visibility and tactical play.

UI & HUD

  • HUD elements may remain visible after redeploying following a countered mission or squad wipe.
  • All teammates may sometimes see the same highlighted stat on the squad placement screen.
  • Second Chance spectating camera does not display the player’s equipped loadout.
  • Missing UI indicator showing when a Redeploy Tower cannot be reused.
  • Inventory highlighting may persist, causing players to accidentally discard items.
  • Certain UI elements display incorrect names or icons.
  • Vehicle Customization menu may fail to show unlock criteria for Anti-Air vehicle presets.
  • Airstrike onboarding tutorial shows the wrong description text.

Fix Status:
A UI-focused patch is currently in testing, intended to correct incorrect tooltips, loadout menus, and persistent HUD elements.

VEHICLES

  • Insertion helicopter look sensitivity may become extremely low when using low player sensitivity settings.
  • Vehicle loadouts may show incorrect passive abilities in customization menus.

Fix Status:
The development team is aware of this issue and aims to recalibrate sensitivity scaling and correct vehicle stat displays in a later update.

SOCIAL

  • Teammates may fail to appear in the pre-game lobby despite being in the same party.

Fix Status:
A backend adjustment is being tested to improve party synchronization and lobby visibility across all platforms.

PERFORMANCE

  • Players may encounter a black screen during insertion or mid-match after changing settings.
  • Certain Battle Royale actions experience noticeable input delays.

Fix Status:
DICE has identified that these issues are linked to streaming performance and UI rendering conflicts. A stability patch is in progress to mitigate these occurrences.

GAUNTLET MODES

  • Deadlock: Missing “Zone Captured” message when securing objectives.
  • Deadlock: No points awarded for the last three seconds of a zone capture.
  • Extraction: Data drive cannot be retrieved once dropped by an enemy or squadmate.
  • Extraction: The extraction point icon may switch incorrectly to a data-drive icon.
  • Wreckage: Dying out of bounds with the bomb can cause a glitched version of the item to spawn.
  • Wreckage: The bomb may detonate instantly when dropped after being picked up from outside the play area.
  • Wreckage: If a player carrying the bomb dies out of bounds, the bomb detonates at its spawn location instead of being reset.

Fix Status:
Developers are actively testing a Gauntlet mode fix that will correct zone capture scoring and stabilize data-drive interactions in Extraction and Wreckage missions.

GAUNTLET UI & HUD

  • Assault Trait “Commanding Presence” lacks a HUD indicator.
  • Briefing screen may not appear if the scoreboard is opened between rounds.

Fix Status:
These UI inconsistencies are minor but under review for inclusion in the next Gauntlet-specific patch.

Battlefield RedSec remains in its early live service phase, and as DICE refines the experience, more stability and optimization updates are expected throughout the season. Players are encouraged to report any additional bugs through the official EA Help platform or the in-game feedback form.

Given its scale and technical ambition, RedSec represents a significant evolution for the Battlefield series, integrating classic class-based squad combat and destruction into a persistent battle royale ecosystem. Despite its rough edges, early player feedback has been largely positive, especially around map design and squad coordination depth.

As the studio continues to deploy patches and content updates, players can expect many of these technical issues to be resolved progressively in the coming weeks, ensuring that Fort Lyndon remains the chaotic, immersive playground that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
