Techland’s survival horror game, Dying Light: The Beast, is now available, and fans have been hard at work discovering the game’s secrets and Easter eggs. We’ve put together some of the standout ones you may have missed during your playthrough.
Whether it’s legacy cameo appearances that tie the series together, secret weapons, hidden areas, or nods to pop culture and other games, Dying Light: The Beast features a worthwhile selection of Easter eggs for fans to uncover. Read ahead to learn about the ones that stood out to us.

Leviathan Axe From God of War
One of the game’s most prominent secrets is the inclusion of Kratos’ iconic Leviathan Axe. Hidden in a remote corner of Castor Woods, this weapon is earned by completing a short environmental puzzle involving glowing runes. Once obtained, it becomes one of the most powerful melee weapons in the game, featuring a unique throwing animation and the satisfying recall mechanic from God of War and God of War Ragnarok.
Harry Potter & Minecraft Crossover
Fans of both Harry Potter and Minecraft will appreciate this bizarre crossover. By walking through an invisible wall and locating a hidden section of the train station marked as Platform 9 3/4 like in Harry Potter, you can trigger a questline that teleports you to a secret, Minecraft-like area. Shattering the walls with your melee weapon and finding your way across will give you access to the Last Hand of Glova, a craftable endgame weapon and spiritual successor to the “Right Hand” from Dying Light and the “Left Finger of Glova” from Dying Light 2. Its massive, almost comical damage output makes it a must-grab for completionists.
EXPcalibur Returns
The iconic sword from the first game is back, now dubbed EXPcalibur II. To unlock it, players must gather eight Stone Sigils hidden throughout Castor Woods and place them at a shrine. Once complete, they will receive a new variant of the glowing sword, which has slightly better durability than its original counterpart.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sewer Hideout
One sewer section contains a cluster of pizza boxes, graffiti of four turtle silhouettes, and a rat, a clear nod to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. While this location doesn’t offer a new weapon, it does reward players with unique zombie encounters and a stash of high-tier loot crates.
The Walking Dead Reference
During the “A New Strain” story quest, you’re tasked with powering up a nearby safe house. When you head into the basement to flip the switch, you’ll spot the phrase “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” scrawled across a pair of double doors, a direct homage to the first episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead TV series. Thanfully, the doors don’t actually unleash a horde of zombies!
Korek Machete
This fan-favorite secret weapon from previous games makes its triumphant return in Dying Light: The Beast. It’s located in a high level area of the Industrial Zone, and can be accessed by knocking on a wall-mounted storage box 77 times. In the original Dying Light, the weapon was obtained by kicking a box 76 times.
Dying Light: The Beast is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
