Best Selling Resident Evil Games US Revealed by Circana Data

by Ali Haider

New sales data shared by industry analyst Mat Piscatella reveals the best-selling Resident Evil games in the United States based on full game dollar sales. Citing figures from the Circana Retail Tracking Service covering January 1995 through January 2026, Piscatella ranked Resident Evil 5 as the top-performing entry in the franchise domestically.

According to the data, the top five best-selling Resident Evil titles in the US are as follows: Resident Evil 5 in first place, followed by Resident Evil 4 from 2023, Resident Evil Village, the original Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. The ranking is based specifically on full game dollar sales rather than unit totals.

The US performance aligns with the broader commercial strength of the franchise. As of early 2026, the Resident Evil series has sold a combined 183 million units globally, reinforcing its position as Capcom’s leading revenue driver. Several modern entries have achieved particularly strong results. Resident Evil 2 Remake from 2019 has reached 16.8 million units sold, while Resident Evil 7 Biohazard stands at 16.4 million. Resident Evil Village has sold 13.5 million copies, and the 2023 Resident Evil 4 Remake has reached 12.2 million.

Earlier titles also contributed significantly to the franchise’s growth. Resident Evil 5 has sold 14.2 million units across all versions, and Resident Evil 6 has reached 11.4 million. The original Resident Evil 4 from 2005 has achieved 12.3 million units sold across its various releases. Other notable entries include Resident Evil 3 Remake at 10.9 million, Resident Evil 0 at 4.45 million, Resident Evil Code Veronica at 2.54 million, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis at 3.50 million, Resident Evil 2 from 1998 at 4.96 million, and the 1996 original at 5.08 million.

Spin-off releases have also demonstrated durability. Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 have combined for approximately 8.3 million units sold. With Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline installment, having launched in February 2026, the franchise continues to expand its commercial footprint. The numbers, taken together, suggest sustained demand across both legacy titles and modern remakes, a rare balance in long-running series.
