The next entry in Take-Two Interactive and 2K’s Bioshock series, dubbed BioShock 4, will allegedly be an immersive sim/RPG-lite, featuring a densely interconnected semi-open world.

Twitter/X user thevscooper, who is known for sharing exclusive scoops and rumors from the world of movies and entertainment, has claimed that BioShock 4 is an immersive sim/RPG-lite, where players will investigate the regime behind a falling utopia in a dense, interconnected city. As per them, player choices will shape the game’s story, and it will feature realistic physics, environmental alteration, and enemies that tactically react and adapt.

According to the source, these are the headliner elements, and more details will arrive with further elaboration sometime later. Additionally, they mentioned that BioShock 4 will feature a semi-open world that is not set in an underwater location. Their takeaway from this information is that the upcoming title will have the ambition of BioShock Infinite, while keeping the essence and actually amplifying what the prior entry tried to do in a non-linear game.

As for the protagonist in BioShock 4, the insider mentioned that the main character will most likely be a citizen starting out with a detective quest that is more focused on research as a plot. As per them, the game is full on-board with the immersive sim system, deeper than ever before. They further claimed that the list of elements they described indicate just how innovative it will be compared to prior entries.

During Take-Two Interactive’s Q2 Fiscal Year 2026 earnings call in November, it was revealed that BioShock 4 is still alive, and is a part of its “long-term pipeline”. While no new details were disclosed, company president Karl Slatoff reaffirmed that the franchise remains an important part of Take-Two Interactive’s future slate, listed alongside major upcoming titles such as Grand Theft Auto VI, Judas, Project ETHOS, and CSR 3.
