The next entry in Take-Two Interactive and 2K’s Bioshock series, dubbed Bioshock 4, is a part of the company’s “long-term pipeline”.
During Take-Two Interactive’s Q2 Fiscal Year 2026 earnings call, it was revealed that BioShock 4 is still alive, and is a part of its “long-term pipeline”. While no new details were disclosed, company president Karl Slatoff reaffirmed that the franchise remains an important part of Take-Two Interactive’s future slate, listed alongside major upcoming titles such as Grand Theft Auto VI, Judas, Project ETHOS, and CSR 3. For a series that has seen years of radio silence, this confirmation suggests that the next BioShock remains a strategic priority.
The rest of the call painted the picture of a publisher experiencing one of its strongest periods in years. Take-Two Interactive reported record second-quarter Net Bookings of $1.96 billion, its best Q2 performance in company history. This surge was driven by standout launches across console and mobile. NBA 2K26 was a particular highlight, breaking multiple internal records, surpassing 5 million units sold-in, and generating huge increases in daily engagement and in-game spending. Mobile titles were another major growth engine; Toon Blast jumped 26% year-over-year, Match Factory hit record Net Bookings, and Rollic’s Color Block Jam continued to be the studio’s highest-grossing release.
On the console and PC front, Take-Two launched several high-profile games during the quarter. Borderlands 4 achieved the franchise’s biggest Steam concurrent player count at launch, despite some early PC optimization issues. Mafia: The Old Country also exceeded internal expectations, reinforcing demand for premium, narrative-driven titles. The company also addressed its biggest upcoming release i.e Grand Theft Auto VI, now officially slated for November 19, 2026. Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick mentioned that Rockstar Games requested additional time for polish and has Take-Two’s full support.
Last month, Bioshock creator Ken Levine shared his thoughts on BioShock 4 and clarified why he has no involvement in the project. Speaking in a recent interview, he explained that while he still has deep respect for the series and those working on it, he does not feel the need to return to the world he helped establish.
