Bioware co-founder Greg Zeshuck has praised the studio’s latest title, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, saying that lengthy gaps between game releases raise fan expectations.

During an interview in the latest episode of My Perfect Console podcast, host Simon Parkin asked BioWare co-founder Greg Zeshuck was asked for his thoughts on the industry, and whether he’s concerned about the direction the game industry is headed in. In response, he said that he’d been a part of the industry long enough to have seen cycles of concerns over things like the future of single player titles. According to him, people like one thing, and then they like another. He still plays games very avidly, and often flips between multiplayer and single-player games.

Elsewhere during the interview, Zeshuck was asked for his thoughts on the current state of BioWare. In response, he mentioned that the current state of the studio is incredibly sobering and worrying for him, particularly because he believes it is undergoing a massive restructuring in terms of how it’s going to work going forward, which he finds will be tough for people. H also thinks that fan expectations are “incredibly high”.

The BioWare co-founder finished his playthrough of Dragon Age The Veilguard a few weeks ago, and he mentioned that he had a lot of fun with it. Unlike those fans who waited 10 years with bated breath for the next installment, he took it as a fresh piece of content, and he really enjoyed his time with it. There were many things he liked about the game, but he also found that it faced tough feedback and a very mixed reception. This made him sad because, at the heart of it, it’s still a really great game in his opinion. As such, he finds that it’s tough being in the games business today.
