BioWare has officially confirmed that the next Mass Effect game is deep in development, marking a major update for fans celebrating this year’s N7 Day. In a message shared by Executive Producer Mike Gamble, the studio reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the franchise and offered new insight into both the upcoming game and the in-development television series in collaboration with Amazon.
In his blog post, Gamble thanked the Mass Effect community for its continued support, describing the ongoing work at BioWare as a labor of passion and persistence. “The next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe,” he wrote. Gamble acknowledged the intense fan speculation in recent months and clarified that while the studio remains quiet for now, the team is fully focused on crafting the next chapter of the sci-fi saga. “We have a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out,” he added, hinting at the game’s ambitious narrative and emotional scope.
While no new gameplay details were revealed, Gamble emphasized that the developers are “heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect,” suggesting that active production has reached a significant stage. Fans eager for news were also encouraged to watch for official updates on BioWare’s channels, as the studio plans additional franchise celebrations and cross-promotional content across other EA titles such as Apex Legends and Skate.
Perhaps the most notable revelation came in the form of new information about the long-rumored Mass Effect TV series, currently being developed in partnership with Amazon. Gamble confirmed that the writers’ room is “going strong” and that BioWare is working closely with Amazon to ensure the show fits meaningfully within the established canon. According to Gamble, the series will tell an original story set after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy. However, it will not retell Commander Shepard’s journey — a deliberate choice to preserve the player-driven legacy of the original games. “It won’t be a retread of Commander Shepard’s story – because after all, that’s your story, isn’t it?” Gamble explained.
Ending his message, Gamble was careful to note that “there is no secret game information to be gleaned” from the N7 Day blog.
