Bioware has confirmed that it has no plans to pursue DLC for its recently released action role-playing game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
During an interview, John Epler, creative director on Dragon Age: The Veilguard at Bioware, confirmed that the studio has no plans to work on DLC for the game. Instead, the development team is now focused on Mass Effect 5 as its current project. This will undoubtedly come as a disappointment to Dragon Age fans, though, on the flip side, we’re glad to hear that the studio is fully involved in the development of the next Mass Effect.
On the subject of Bioware giving multiplayer games another try after the failure of Anthem, Epler said that it’s possible to tell a strong story in a multiplayer game. He brought up Final Fantasy XIV, and how it does an excellent job in this regard. However, he said that multiplayer also introduces some complications around world states. He talked about one player making a major choice in their world, which can causes a global change in all instances of said world. The creative director also shared that the games he plays the most on his personal time are multiplayer games. However, when it comes to crafting large worlds and experiences, he prefers the focus that single-player games can offer.
Recently, Michael Gamble, project director and executive producer on Mass Effect 5 at Bioware, had addressed questions people had been asking him about the game. With respect to questions regarding the game’s tone, he said that it will maintain the mature tone of the original trilogy. Though, this is all he was able to share for now. A fan pointed out to him that Mass Effect, including the original trilogy, has always had its fair share of humor and silliness. In response, Gamble clarified that it was more a case of serious characters being put in some humorous situations.
