Black Myth: Wukong is now available for pre-load on Xbox Series X|S, and, as a result, the game’s download size on has been revealed. The action role-playing game will take up a massive amount of storage space on Xbox consoles, even more so than the PS5 version. As such, those with limited available space on the internal storage drive are advised to make room in advance. It goes without saying that storage expansion options are available for those who need them.

The pre-load for the Xbox Series X|S version of Black Myth: Wukong comes with the latest update pre-installed for anyone who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to release on August 20, 2025. The download size of the PS5 version of Black Myth: Wukong (104.394 GB) is a bit smaller than that of the Series X|S version (109.11 GB).
For the uninitiated, Black Myth: Wukong is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. It follows the story of the Destined One, a monkey warrior armed with a magical staff, who sets out on a quest to recover six relics tied to Sun Wukong’s six senses. Players step into the role of the Destined One, a Sun Wukong-inspired protagonist wielding a staff reminiscent of the legendary Ruyi Jingu Bang. This weapon is highly adaptable, able to extend or contract in battle, and offers multiple combat stances such as smash, pillar, and thrust. The game first launched on PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 20, 2024, with an Xbox Series X|S version slated for release on August 20, 2025.
