Activision and Treyarch’s upcoming first-person shooter, Black Ops 7, is among the first in the Call of Duty series to not take the top spot in the PS5 pre-order charts after its announcement.
The updated PS5 pre-order charts on the PlayStation Store have revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 didn’t take the top spot after its announcement, becoming one of the first entries in the series that failed to do so.

Leading the current PS5 pre-order charts on the PlayStation Store is NBA 2K26 Superstar Edition at #1, followed by NBA 2K26 Leave No Doubt Edition at #2, Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition at #3, EA SPORTS FC 26 Ultimate Edition at #4, Battlefield 6 Standard Edition at #5, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Digital Deluxe Edition at #6, and Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition at #7.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Vault Edition comes in at #8, NBA 2K26 Standard Edition at #9, Gears of War Reloaded at #10, Ghost of Yotei Digital Deluxe Edition at #11, Borderlands 4 Standard Edition at #12, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Standard Edition at #13, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – Cross-Gen Bundle at #14, and EA Sports FC 26 Standard Edition at #15.
Based on the pre-order charts, it looks like Call of Duty competitor Battlefield has taken the lead, with the Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition coming in at #3 and the Standard Edition at #5, while the Black Ops 7 – Vault Edition and Black Ops 7 – Cross-Gen Bundle lag behind at #8 and #14, respectively.
Recently, industry analyst Michael Pachter revealed that EA is planning on turning the Battlefield series into an annual release cycle. similar to that of Call of Duty. Byron Beede, the General Manager of Battlefield, reportedly told Pachter that EA intends to build an annualized development model by assigning the franchise across three studios, each working on a game over a three-year cycle. While the plan is in motion, Beede admitted that it will take time to reach full execution. According to him, fans should expect five to six years before EA can deliver two consecutive annual Battlefield titles.
