The multiplayer maps in Activision and Treyarch’s upcoming first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, will feature a “more colorful” aesthetic, similar to that of Black Ops Cold War.
Call of Duty insider TheGhostOfHope took to Twitter/X to share several new informaition regarding the multiplayer mode in the upcoming Black Ops 7, including details on the maps featured at launch. As per them, the aforementioned maps are “more colorful” than those seen in Black Ops 6, and much closer to the maps of Black Ops Cold War. They also mentioned that there will only be 3 remastered maps from Black Ops 2 available at launch.

- Specialists abilities are making a return from Black Ops 3 and 4 alongside field upgrades
- The game features are things like active camo, grapple hook and gadgets one would expect
- Weekly challenges and events, similar to those seen in Modern Warfare III, are planned
- Raid, Express and Hijacked are the 3 remastered Black Ops 2 maps that will be available at launch
- The game will not feature the Pick 10 system, which gave players the ability to pick 10 elements to build their loadout
- Looping streaks are now featured as a perk
Recently, the same insider had shared details regarding the gameplay and launch map featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Zombies mode. According to them, the upcoming title’s launch Zombies map will essentially revisit the core idea behind TranZit from Black Ops 2, but with “bigger places” to explore. Players can expect a large, interconnected map with multiple locations. The setting reportedly takes place entirely within the Heart of the Dark Aether, putting players deep in the series’ supernatural dimension. Additionally, the Dark Aether backdrop will likely offer a darker, more atmospheric tone right off the bat.
