Borderlands 4 Adds Break Free Pack, New ECHO-4 Drone Skins, and Franchise Loyalty Reward

Gearbox Software and 2K are expanding the post-launch support for Borderlands 4 with the release of the Break Free Pack, now joined by two new ECHO-4 Drone skins. This bonus content arrives as a thank-you to players who helped make the game’s launch weekend on September 12 a chaotic success.

Players can redeem the Break Free Pack using the SHiFT code JS63J-JSCWJ-CFTBW-3TJ3J-WJS5R, which also grants two exclusive ECHO-4 Drone skins. For longtime fans of the series, the developers are going one step further. Those with a linked SHiFT account who previously played Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, or Borderlands 3 can unlock the “Paint the Town Crimson” ECHO-4 Drone Skin in Borderlands 4. Once the account is verified and linked, the reward will appear in the in-game inventory through the Reward Center. This offer is available until December 31, 2030, giving players plenty of time to claim the cosmetic bonus.

The announcement was accompanied by some early gameplay statistics, shedding light on how players have been spending their time in Borderlands 4. Vault Hunters managed to loot a staggering 764,733,586 items, with quirky tallies that include over 1.8 million items from grills, beer coolers, or boomboxes and more than 14.8 million from Red Chests. Deaths have also piled up in amusing ways, including 4.56 million grenade-related missteps and over 2 million deaths caused by barrels. Driving remains central to the mayhem as well, with 40.4 million miles logged and 16.2 million vehicles destroyed. When it comes to boss fights, players attempted more than 62 million encounters, successfully toppling over 55 million bosses while also facing their fair share of failures.

Released in September 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Borderlands 4 has received generally favorable reviews. On October 3, 2025, the game will expand its reach further with a release on Nintendo Switch 2.
