Borderlands 4 Creative Director Confirms Console FOV Patch Coming Soon, Rules Out Mouse and Keyboard Support

Gearbox Software has shared new details regarding post-launch updates for Borderlands 4, with Creative Director Graeme Timmins addressing several community concerns through his personal Twitter/X account. Among the most notable updates, Timmins confirmed that a field-of-view (FOV) patch for consoles is in development and will be arriving as soon as it is ready.

Responding to a fan who asked about the possibility of mouse and keyboard support on consoles, Timmins clarified that the feature will not be included in Borderlands 4. According to him, the development team did investigate the idea, but implementing it would have required rewriting fundamental input code that was beyond the scope of the current project. “We hope to in future titles tho as we know a lot of people want this,” Timmins explained.

Beyond input methods and visual settings, the creative director also addressed performance issues raised by players. In one case, a user reported repeated GPU crash dumps on their system. Timmins assured them that crash data is collected whenever players submit reports, and encouraged affected users to provide their DxDiag information through the official 2K support site for further assistance.

Another player voiced concerns about an enemy level scaling issue that left their second character unplayable. Timmins replied by stating that the game is designed to add “soft difficulty walls” when rushing the main campaign, and recommended that players engage with side content before returning to the main storyline.

Released on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, Borderlands 4 is the latest entry in Gearbox’s long-running looter-shooter series. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also scheduled to arrive on October 3, 2025.

With the FOV patch confirmed and other fixes underway, Gearbox continues to refine its ambitious sequel. While some highly requested features like console mouse and keyboard support will have to wait for future installments, the studio appears committed to responding directly to its player community.
