Gearbox Software has issued an update to the Borderlands 4 community, acknowledging performance concerns on PC and outlining upcoming improvements for both PC and console players. The statement comes less than a week after the game’s release, which has already drawn millions of players into the new setting of Kairos.
According to the developer, some PC users have reported persistent bugs and crashes since launch. Gearbox confirmed that updates aimed at improving stability and overall performance began rolling out over the weekend, with another patch scheduled for Thursday. The studio stressed that resolving these issues remains its highest priority.
Console players can also expect changes in the near future. A Field of View (FOV) slider option is currently in testing, responding to community requests for more flexibility in gameplay customization. Gearbox noted that it is also monitoring reports of performance concerns on consoles, with updates planned to address those problems.
In addition to technical fixes, the studio recently released the Break Free Pack as a free reward to thank players for their support during launch week. The developers emphasized that community feedback is being read closely and will continue to shape the game’s post-launch support.
Borderlands 4, developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, launched on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with generally favorable reviews from critics. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is scheduled to arrive on October 3, 2025, expanding the game’s reach to another platform.
