Gearbox Software has confirmed that Borderlands 4 will receive a long-requested feature on consoles. In response to community feedback, the studio announced via the official Borderlands Twitter/X account that the development team is actively exploring how to implement a field-of-view (FOV) slider on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. The message assured fans that the feature is under consideration and that further updates will continue to prioritize player experience based on community input.
The announcement follows repeated requests from console players who have been eager to see greater flexibility in FOV settings, especially after PC players received customization options at launch. One user directly asked for an FOV slider on PlayStation 5 Pro, prompting Borderlands’ social media team to reiterate that the option is being worked on for all current-generation consoles. Although no timeline has been given, the acknowledgment suggests that Gearbox is committed to feature parity across platforms.
Alongside this update, a new patch for Borderlands 4 was deployed earlier today to improve performance on PC. The patch focuses on stability across a wide range of hardware setups, though players are advised that shaders will now recompile whenever graphics settings are changed—a process that could take up to 15 minutes. To support smoother gameplay, official optimization guides have also been published. NVIDIA users are encouraged to install the latest Game Ready Driver (581.29) and adjust to suggested optimal settings, while AMD players can follow recommended configurations tailored to their systems.
Gearbox reassured fans that more updates are planned in the coming weeks, with additional improvements based on community feedback. This commitment comes after mixed reception regarding the game’s PC performance, which has been cited as one of its few shortcomings.
Released on September 12, 2025, Borderlands 4 is the latest entry in the long-running looter shooter series. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K, the game is available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release scheduled for October 3, 2025.
