A Portuguese retailer has listed Borderlands 4 for Nintendo Switch 2 with a release date of February 27, suggesting the long-delayed version of the game may finally be nearing launch. The listing appeared on Gaming Replay, where Borderlands 4 is shown as a Switch 2 game key card with a specific street date, despite no official confirmation from Gearbox Software or its publishing partners.
Borderlands 4 originally launched on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. Developed by Gearbox Software using Unreal Engine 5, the game marked a major new entry in the franchise, introducing players to the planet Kairos and a story centered on opposing the Timekeeper. The release featured four new Vault Hunters, including Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo Soldier, while retaining the series’ established focus on fast-paced combat, exaggerated humor, and an expansive loot system.
Post-launch support for the game has continued, with players currently engaging with new endgame content. A free update released on January 15, 2026, added the raid boss Bloomreaper the Invincible, which has quickly become a focal point for the community. Meanwhile, the non-Nintendo versions of the game have received multiple updates aimed at addressing performance issues such as frame rate instability and memory-related problems.
The Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 was originally scheduled to release on October 3, 2025, but was delayed indefinitely just ten days before launch. At the time, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said the delay was due to a need for “additional development and polish time.” Since then, no revised release window has been formally announced, and the Switch 2 port has remained absent from official release schedules.
The Portuguese retailer listing represents the first public indication of a potential launch date for the Switch 2 version. While the information remains unconfirmed and should be treated as a leak, it may signal that Gearbox is preparing to bring Borderlands 4 to Nintendo’s new hardware after several months of uncertainty. Until an official announcement is made, Nintendo players will have to wait a little longer for clarity.
