Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster Launches on PC, Xbox

by Greg Martin

Square Enix has released Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster on additional platforms, bringing the classic RPG to PC and Xbox starting today. The game is available digitally on PC through Steam, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Xbox on PC, with support for Xbox Play Anywhere.

Originally launched for Nintendo Switch 2 last year, the remastered version allows players to revisit the world of Luxendarc with updated visuals and several quality-of-life improvements. The new release also supports handheld play on devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally and Valve’s Steam Deck.

To mark the launch on its new platforms, Square Enix is offering a limited-time 20 percent discount on both Steam and Xbox storefronts. Players who purchase the game will also receive a digital art book as a permanent bonus, which can be viewed through the D-Viewer application.

Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster follows the story set in the world of Luxendarc, where four elemental crystals maintain balance and peace. When darkness emerges from the Great Chasm and threatens the stability of the world, a group known as the Warriors of Light sets out on a journey to restore the crystals. The adventure features several central characters, including Agnès Oblige, Tiz Arrior, Edea Lee, Ringabel, and the crystal fairy Airy.

Combat is built around the series signature Brave and Default system. Players can spend Brave Points to perform multiple actions in a single turn or use Default to defend and store turns for later use. The system adds a layer of strategy to turn-based battles, allowing players to manage risk and timing during encounters.

The game also includes more than 20 different jobs, each offering its own abilities and play style. By combining different job skills across the party, players can create a variety of team setups suited for different challenges. Battles can also be sped up by the player, helping streamline combat while progressing through the story.

The HD remaster retains the original character designs created by Akihiko Yoshida and features a soundtrack composed by Revo. Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster is rated T for Teen by the ESRB and is now available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox on PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
