Bungie has officially confirmed that Marathon will launch on March 5, 2026, arriving simultaneously on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Alongside the release date announcement, the studio shared a new gameplay trailer, detailed pre-order information, and revealed the English language voice cast for its upcoming survival extraction first-person shooter.
Set on the abandoned colony world of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon casts players as bio-cybernetic Runners tasked with scavenging the planet while surviving against hostile security forces, rival players, and the unforgiving environment itself. Bungie’s newly released trailer highlights the dangers waiting on the surface, emphasizing tension-driven encounters, exploration, and high-risk extractions as players attempt to escape with valuable loot.
Bungie also confirmed an extensive English language voice cast for Marathon, featuring a wide range of established talent. The cast includes performers such as Roger Clark, Jennifer English, Dave Fennoy, Neil Newbon, Ben Starr, Elias Toufexis, Erica Lindbeck, Fred Tatasciore, and many others. Bungie noted that Marathon will support fully localized dialogue across all supported languages, with additional voice casts to be revealed at a later date. The studio also indicated that the voice roster will continue to expand as the game evolves post-launch.
Pre-orders for Marathon are now live, with the game available in both Standard and Deluxe editions across all platforms. Bungie confirmed full cross-play and cross-save support at launch. As an added incentive, Destiny 2 players will be able to claim themed rewards, with additional ornaments available to those who pre-order Marathon and link their Bungie.net account.
The Marathon Standard Edition includes access to all gameplay updates released throughout the year, such as new maps, Runner shells, and live events. Players who pre-order will receive a set of cosmetic bonuses, including weapon styles, charms, stickers, and profile items, along with Destiny 2-themed rewards such as an Exotic Ghost shell, ship, and Sparrow.
The Deluxe Edition builds on this with a Premium Rewards Pass voucher, additional Rewards Pass tokens, and a collection of exclusive weapon and Runner shell cosmetics. These items are designed around the Midnight Decay theme and expand customization options from day one.
For collectors, Bungie also unveiled Marathon’s Collector’s Edition. This version includes all Deluxe Edition digital content, along with a physical package featuring a one-sixth scale Thief Runner shell statue with LED lighting, a collectible WEAVEworm miniature, embroidered patch, art postcards, and premium display packaging. Players who purchase the Collector’s Edition through the Bungie Store or PlayStation Direct will also receive additional in-game cosmetic items.
Beyond the game itself, Bungie revealed Marathon-themed hardware in collaboration with PlayStation. A limited edition DualSense wireless controller featuring bold visuals inspired by the game will be available globally in limited quantities for $84.99, €84.99, £74.99, or ¥12,480, including tax. Pre-orders for the controller begin January 29, 2026, with availability starting March 5, though regional launch timing may vary.
A Marathon limited edition Pulse Elite wireless headset was also announced, showcasing a design aligned with the game’s aesthetic and offering low-latency audio through PlayStation Link connectivity. The headset will be available in limited quantities in the United States for $169.99, with pre-orders opening January 29 and launch set for March 5.
With its release date now confirmed, Marathon is positioned as Bungie’s next major multiplayer experience, blending high-stakes extraction gameplay with the studio’s signature world-building. More details on post-launch plans and evolving content are expected as the March release approaches.
