Independent studio The Game Bakers has announced that its latest title, Cairn, has surpassed 200,000 copies sold, marking an early commercial milestone for the survival-climbing game. The developers shared the update on X shortly after the game’s global launch.

In a post celebrating the achievement, The Game Bakers wrote, “Is this the revival of Kami’s golden age of tourism? We couldn’t be happier to have welcomed 200,000 climbers to the mountain over the weekend.” The message indicates that the figure was reached within days of release, reflecting strong initial interest in the title.

Cairn is a realistic survival-climbing simulation developed and published by the French independent studio, which is also known for previous projects such as Furi and Haven. The game centers on Aava, a professional mountaineer attempting to become the first person to successfully scale the fictional Mount Kami, a mountain described as harsh and unforgiving.

Gameplay is built around a limb-based control system paired with a physics-driven engine. Players must manually place Aava’s hands and feet to climb, emphasizing careful movement and precise positioning rather than automated traversal. Progression is further shaped by resource management, as players must monitor limited supplies such as chalk, pitons, and stamina while navigating the mountain’s handcrafted rock faces.

Cairn was originally planned for release in 2025 but was delayed to allow additional time for optimization. The game ultimately launched worldwide on January 29, 2026. It is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
