Call of Duty is reportedly performing well in internal testing on Nintendo Switch 2, according to Windows Central editor Jez Corden. Speaking during a recent podcast, Corden stated that Microsoft remains contractually obligated to bring the franchise to Nintendo hardware and described its arrival as certain, though details remain limited.
“I heard COD 2 on Switch was testing pretty well,” Corden said, indicating that early performance feedback has been positive. He added that he would seek further clarification in the near term, stating, “I’ll try and get an update on that for, you know, for the near term.”
Corden emphasized that the franchise’s appearance on Switch 2 is not speculative. “It’s coming. You know that not only it’s not a revelation to say it’s coming, you know, they’re contractually obligated by the regulators to bring Call of Duty to Switch in some capacity.” He reiterated the point clearly, adding, “It is definitely coming.”
However, the specific entry planned for Nintendo’s console has not been confirmed. “I don’t know which one is though,” Corden said. He suggested several possibilities, noting, “I presume it would be the latest one.” At the same time, he acknowledged that Microsoft and Activision could opt for a different approach. “Maybe they’ll do one of the older ones if it’s an easier port initially. Maybe it’ll be War Zone.” He concluded by saying, “I’ll try and find out exactly which Call of Duty it is.”
Recently, rumors surfaced that Sledgehammer is hiring developers with experience in Nintendo hardware, suggesting they might be developing a Call of Duty release for Switch 2.
