Capcom has confirmed it is aware of an issue affecting Resident Evil Village on PlayStation 5 Pro, following reports that a recent update removed the console’s high frame rate mode. The problem surfaced after an update intended to add a menu option for purchasing Resident Evil Requiem inadvertently rolled back prior PS5 Pro support features.
According to user reports shared on Reddit, the update removed the unlocked FPS option previously available on PS5 Pro. A post on the PS5 Pro subreddit noted that the high frame rate option remains missing roughly a week after the patch was deployed, with users describing the change as an apparent rollback of the Pro support update.
One user contacted Capcom Support and shared the company’s response publicly. In its reply, Capcom stated, “We understand your concerns regarding the missing high framerate mode on PS5 Pro in Resident Evil Village.” The support team added, “We have forwarded your report to the appropriate department for further investigation.” However, Capcom also noted that it is unable to provide follow-up information or updates regarding the issue at this time.
The support response confirms that the missing feature is not an intentional removal but rather a bug under investigation. While Capcom has not provided a timeline for a fix, the acknowledgement suggests the matter is being reviewed internally.
Resident Evil Village originally launched on May 7, 2021, as the eighth main installment in the franchise and a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. The title later received the Winters’ Expansion in 2022, adding additional content and gameplay options.
