Capcom Is Allegedly Considering The Possibility Of A Resident Evil: Revelations Remake

by Muhammad Ali Bari

Capcom is considering the possibility of a remake of its 012 survival horror game, Resident Evil: Revelations, according to a new rumor.

Known insider and horror game enthusiast Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer) took to Twitter/X to list all the mainline Resident Evil titles. When asked whether Capcom considers Resident Evil: Revelations and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 a part of the main series, Golem responded by reminding that the directors of both titles are now in charge of the development of the franchise. As such, while the original plan with the Revelations sub-series may have been to tell side stories, he mentioned that they ended up laying the crucial foundation for the main story. He added that the possibility of a Resident Evil: Revelations remake has been considered by the developer.

“There’s a reason the directors of Rev 1 & Rev 2 are the ones spearheading the franchise at present,” said Golem. “The original idea may have been to tell a story setback in the past, but their foundations ended up being crucial. The possibility of doing a Rev 1 Remake has been tossed around.”

Last month, the same insider claimed that a Resident Evil: Revelations 3 project starring Rebecca Chambers was cancelled in 2022. He suggested that some ideas from this project may have been reworked into later titles, though he clarified that this bit was speculation. “I have no solid proof they’re connected, so take it with a grain of salt as my own speculation,” he stated. He also firmly claimed that a Resident Evil 5 remake is not currently in development.
