Capcom Goes All In With Resident Evil Requiem Viral Campaign Featuring T-Virus

Capcom appears to be escalating its promotional efforts for Resident Evil Requiem, with a viral marketing display in Shibuya drawing attention online. A video shared on social media shows what appears to be a T-Virus sample exhibit placed prominently in the busy Tokyo district, reinforcing the game’s central themes ahead of launch.

The footage was posted by Genki_JPN on X, who wrote, “Resident Evil T-Virus is on display in Shibuya!” and added, “If they are not careful we could have another Raccoon City situation on our hands here…” The display, styled as an in-universe biohazard exhibit, quickly gained traction among fans and observers, fueling discussion around Capcom’s marketing scale for the upcoming release.

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to launch worldwide on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Serving as the ninth mainline entry in the franchise, the game follows Leon S. Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as they investigate the ruins of Raccoon City thirty years after its destruction. The narrative centers on a new outbreak scenario involving what is described as a Latent Onset T Virus Syndrome.

The Shibuya activation is part of what appears to be a broader marketing push. Capcom has invested heavily in visibility for the title, and early tracking suggests Resident Evil Requiem is positioned to be one of the franchise’s largest launches. Among titles releasing in 2026, it is reportedly trailing only Grand Theft Auto VI in early performance indicators.
