Capcom announced Mega Man Dual Override, the next mainline entry in the longstanding action platformer franchise, during The Game Awards 2025 in Los Angeles. The publisher confirmed that the title is scheduled for release in 2027 across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. This marks the 12th numbered installment in the series and the first major entry since Mega Man 11 in 2018.
The announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer published on the official Mega Man YouTube channel. While the company outlined the platforms and release window, it has not yet provided detailed information on gameplay systems, narrative direction, or new mechanics beyond describing the project as an action platformer.
Capcom stated that it will hold a fan participation event later this month, giving players the opportunity to submit designs for a new Robot Master that could appear in the final game. The publisher characterized the initiative as a community design contest hosted on a dedicated website.
The release of Mega Man Dual Override will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Mega Man franchise in 2027. The series, which debuted in 1987, has sold more than 43 million units globally, according to Capcom. Over the decades, Mega Man has expanded into multiple media formats, including comics and animated adaptations.
To mark the game’s reveal, Capcom will temporarily discount Mega Man 11 on digital storefronts. The publisher stated that the title will be available for under $5 on the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Xbox Store, and Steam for a limited period. Capcom also confirmed that Mega Man 11 will receive Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish language support through a software update planned for release later tonight.
