Capcom has released a new teaser trailer confirming the arrival of C. Viper in Street Fighter 6, scheduled for release this autumn as part of the game’s ongoing post-launch content. The announcement marks the return of a fan-favorite character, originally introduced in Street Fighter IV, and expands the already robust lineup of fighters in the latest entry of the franchise.
The teaser starts with dramatic music and a story scene featuring a simulation of M. Bison, the notorious leader of Shadowloo. C. Viper sets it up as a combat simulation to figure out how dangerous Bison is. As a research director at the organization SiRN, she calls Bison the most dangerous subject they’ve ever recorded in their data, but she’s confident the simulation will hold up. After the virtual fight ends, she comments with quiet satisfaction, then wraps up the scene by complaining about having to work overtime.
C. Viper, who also goes by Maya, is shown as a high-tech spy with CIA connections. Her fighting style uses all kinds of gadget-based attacks that work through her advanced combat suit. Bringing her back to the series shows how Capcom is bringing back old characters with updated game mechanics, mixing nostalgia with new stuff.
Street Fighter 6, originally released in 2023, has continued to evolve through regular seasonal updates and the addition of new characters. Built on the RE Engine, the game supports multiple platforms and features rollback netcode, offering a stable and responsive online experience. It blends classic Street Fighter gameplay with modern mechanics, appealing to both longtime fans and new players.
In June 2025, Capcom released the Year 1–2 Fighters Edition, which marked the game’s debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. As of that same month, Street Fighter 6 has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, reflecting its strong and sustained popularity.
The addition of C. Viper follows Capcom’s recent trend of bringing back classic fighters, including the return of M. Bison and Elena. Several more legacy characters are set to join the roster in the game’s third season pass, such as Alex, Sagat, and Ingrid. Earlier in the previous season, guest characters from SNK’s Fatal Fury series — Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui — were also introduced, marking a notable crossover between two iconic fighting franchises.
