Capcom appears to have teased an upcoming expansion for its 2024 action role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Recently, on the occasion of the second anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom had shared a special celebratory artwork on Twitter/X that hints at a possible upcoming expansion. Eagle-eyed fans noticed (via PaiDuck on Reddit) that the image contains a hidden letter as well as a character not featured in the game. The celebratory artwork can be seen below.
Fans noticed that the letter seen in the artwork contains text in an a form of archaic English official that is used by the residents of Gransys, a region found in the original Dragon’s Dogma. The message translates to, “Sightings of Griffins Flying in From the Northern Region of Organ Have Been Confirmed.” This appears to be an intentional hint left in the artwork by Capcom, as Dragon’s Dogma 2 contains multiple mentions of a Northern Region that never appears during the game, as seen below.
- “An abundance of magickal energy has been detected on the northern edge of Vermund, though the source is as yet unknown.”
- “The north of the continent is said to be home to an ancient nation, but records of its existence are scarce, and there has been no contact with its people for over a century.”
- Hyperboreal Lorica: Armor that glitters with sublime light. Forged in honor of the deity to whom the Hyperboreans—a legendary bow-wielding people of the north – traced their lineage.
Back in November, a dataminer found in-game files in the Denuvo-free build of the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2, indicating that the game may receive DLC in some shape or form in the future. There is mention of a Boss Rush Mode and a new multiplayer mode called Tower of the New Moon. Earlier, the game’s Steam back-end revealed that a number of encrypted DLC updates had been made to its database files.
