Bandai Namco has officially announced CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS, marking the franchise’s return to console and PC platforms after more than six years. Developed by TAMSOFT, the new entry is set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Described as the largest game in the series to date, CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS transforms traditional soccer matches into high-energy battles where players can perform exaggerated, super-powered actions. The game will feature 22 national teams, more than 110 playable characters, and over 150 unique special moves, emphasizing fast-paced spectacle alongside competitive play.
Built around the concept of “Super Action Soccer,” the new gameplay systems allow players to chain together dramatic techniques for dribbling, passing, tackling, blocking, and shooting. Each action can be executed with character-specific abilities, creating sequences that mirror the over-the-top style of the anime and manga. Goalkeeping has also been expanded with a new tactical system that directly pits the goalkeeper against the shooter, allowing both sides to counter and respond with powerful super shots and defensive maneuvers.
CAPTAIN TSUBASA 2: WORLD FIGHTERS is based on the long-running Captain Tsubasa series and encourages players to create their own character and embark on a personal journey toward victory alongside Tsubasa. Along the way, players will form new rivalries, build friendships, and compete for championship glory.
Audio will once again be handled by Tadayoshi Makino, who returns as composer following his work on the previous game in the series. The soundtrack will include more than 80 newly created background music tracks.
